Fig Jam

Figs… Figs are more to me than just the filling in Fig Newtons; though as a kid, my three favorite cookies were Coconut Macaroons, Fig Newtons, and shortbread cookies… I could be bought if you had ANY of those cookies in hand…

As an adult, figs to me were ‘fancy fruit’.  Only available twice a year, not exactly cheap, but if you got your hands on them, they were a fruit to savor… My first, and it turns out last girlfriend, Vicki Gunther made me a gift basket as a housewarming when I got my first place; in this basket were figs — I thought I was the luckiest guy on the planet!  To this day, I think figs are something special, and not truly of this earth…

It is with that reverence that I embarked on my road trip today to gather the precious fruit; and it is with that reverence that I made the jam THE SAME DAY, the minute I got home!  The Supremes Anthology was playing in the background, so I was in a happy place, making something magical… which I’ve trapped in a jar, for you to procure — I wouldn’t wait too long to order a jar of this incredible spread!!
