Ken’s Jam [Fruit Punch Jam with Black Tea] — part of the Friendship Series

**FRIENDSHIP SERIES!**

SURPRISE!!  One last entry into the Friendship Jam Series… Throughout the year last year, frequently people would ask me what flavor combination would I create if I were to make Ken’s Jam — a signature jam, if you will… It wasn’t something I thought of originally… If anything, I felt like I should pay homage to my Grandmother Della Mae (my Mom’s Mother), who was the one who opened my eyes to the wonders of jam making, and started me down this path of creativity…

But then I kept thinking about it, and I kept circling back to my daily ‘drank’… i am a HUGE fan of mixing fruit punch with black tea; iced — I call it my ‘ghetto Arnold Palmer’… 🙂

So, using my drink as a base line, throughout the year I kept playing with different fruit combinations, trying to get that balance of fruity goodness with a “tropical twist”, without it being too sweet or cloying, and without an overpowering flavor of tea.  It took a while, but I hit on the perfect combination of fruits; balanced perfectly, with just a kiss of black tea… actually more of a undercurrent, if you will… this jam has ALL of my favorite fruits, with an extra dose of Black Plum, Cherries, Blackberries and Watermelon, plus I had to throw peaches in there as an homage to my Grandmother Della Mae.  I LOVE THIS JAM!!  Not sure now if this one, or my Raisin Preserves are my favorite… it’s a close call…
