Ryan’s Jam [Blueberry, Pineapple & Vanilla] — part of the Friendship Series

Ryan Kelley…

It was early spring, and I was participating in a fundraiser for the Camarillo Community Theater.  I was sitting backstage, just minding my business, when these three guys came rushing over, asking for help pulling together outlandish costume pieces so that they could do a number from Spamalot; I had such a blast helping out these kooks!  One of them was Ryan…

The community theater circle is small and mighty, so Ryan and I kept running into each other repeatedly.  As I got to know him, I discovered that we had a mutual love for writing, film production, and theater, and our friendship grew.  After just a few years, he became my go to person if I needed an Assistant Director for a theatrical production.  I have a small group of straight male friends that I, and my friends around me refer to as my ‘Boyfriends’ — Ryan is one of the chosen few in that group… they are a group of guys that would do anything for me, and I would do anything for them; we’re so close we might as well be dating!!  And Ryan is my Videographer/Editor/Producer/Confidante for my YouTube video series… in short, in my life, Ryan is well — INDISPENSABLE. He is gifted, talented, generous and warm hearted.  There is NO ONE as reliable, or as dependable as he is — his word is GOLD. I am so thankful that he is in my corner for the Ken’s Perfekt Jam video series – it is his eye, and his creativity that gives my videos the look and feel that I wanted, and absolutely love!!

When I queried Ryan about his favorite fruits and flavors, his favorite fruits were blueberries and pineapple… that made it easy for me, for I find that to be a go to flavor combination for a couple of summer drinks, desserts and cocktails; and I figured that a drinking buddy would appreciate having a jam created for, and inspired by him that was based on a cocktail!  So using the ratios that I use for one of my favorite summer cocktails, which is blueberries, pineapple and vanilla vodka, blended with ice, I figured – it works with the cocktail, I’ll bet it’ll work for a jam as well… AND I WAS RIGHT!!

And that’s Ryan’s Jam… A little sweet, a little tart — just like Ryan… it’s a perfect blend!  I love Ryan, and I love this jam — it’s crazy how much it tastes like the cocktail it was based on!!
