Truella’s Jam [Pineapple, with Mango, Guava & Passionfruit] — part of the Homage Series

**HOMAGE SERIES!**

My Paternal Grandmother Truella…

We all have people in our lives that inspire us; that enrich our lives… people who help us rise to the occasion – people who challenge us to be the best we can possibly be.  My Grandmother Truella was the one who showed me that even in the hardest of times, there is always joy to be found; and that there is always magic all around you.

Truella is the one who taught me to embrace life; to strive to be fearless, and to treat everyone you come across with kindness.  She was also a whiz in the kitchen, and there are a few of her treasured recipes that I treasure and use to this day; My Raisin Preserves recipe is based on a recipe from her, and is to this day still one of my all time favorite preserves.  I am a lucky man — I COME FROM GOOD STOCK!!  🙂

In my personal pantheon, my Grandma Della Mae is the Goddess of Joy; she embraced joy, and lived life to the fullest.  Her personal love language was elevating others; raising them up — I would like to think that I got a bit of that from her… I truly hope I did.  And I am truly blessed to have her as one of my Grandmothers.

In paying homage to her, I did a riff on a memory; she had passionfruit vines growing along one of the fences in the backyard; she loved pineapple, and she had dreams of going to Hawaii; but that never happened for her.  So, I blended the real with the fantasy, and transported her to a place she dreamed about in her Jam — when you taste it, I hope you can taste the joy and happiness in this blend of fruit!
